Waseem Hassan is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow and haptics researcher developing ways to make digital experiences felt—through the air, across the body, and through responsive devices. His work connects novel haptic interfaces with computational modelling and psychophysics, spanning non-contact body sensations, wearable and encountered feedback, and data-driven haptic content.

Three ways into the sense of touch.

These three themes span the full haptic experience: how sensations are created, how interactive systems deliver them, and how people perceive them.

Contactless and
Body-Centred Haptics

Using low-frequency sound, ultrasound, and cross-modal cues to create sensations on—and sometimes perceived within—the body, without requiring a wearable device.

About

From haptic signals to human experience.

Waseem’s research combines interface design, computational methods, and psychophysics to understand not only how haptic feedback can be produced, but how it is perceived. His work has moved from haptic texture libraries and wearable devices to encountered force feedback and contactless sensations created with sound.

He is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at UpnaLab, Public University of Navarre. Previously, he worked at the University of Copenhagen and Kyung Hee University, where he completed his PhD and MS in Computer Engineering.
